Glutinous Rice Balls
A traditional Chinese dessert, these sweet and chewy rice balls are filled with black sesame paste and served in a warm, sweet ginger broth.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Brown sugar - 1/2 cup
- Ginger - 1 piece, sliced
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Black sesame paste - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Glutinous rice flour - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, mix the glutinous rice flour with water until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and flatten each piece into a disc.
- Place a small amount of black sesame paste in the center of each disc and fold the dough over to seal it.
- Boil a pot of water and cook the rice balls for about 5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- In a separate pot, bring the ginger, brown sugar, and 4 cups of water to a boil to make the ginger broth.
- Serve the rice balls in the ginger broth, sweetened with sugar to taste.
