Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the grape leaves and soak in warm water for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat half of the olive oil in a pan and sauté the onions until soft.
  3. Add the rice, pine nuts, currants, mint, dill, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Drain the grape leaves and pat dry. Place a spoonful of the rice mixture on each leaf and fold the sides over, then roll up tightly.
  5. Arrange the stuffed leaves seam-side down in a large pot. Drizzle with the remaining olive oil and add enough water to cover the leaves.
  6. Cover the pot and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the leaves are tender and the rice is cooked.
  7. Allow the leaves to cool in the pot before serving.
