Xoi Ma
Xoi Ma is a traditional Vietnamese dessert made from sticky rice and black sesame seeds. It's sweet, nutty, and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Black sesame seeds - 1 cup
- Sticky rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible.
- Drain the rice and steam it for about 20 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and soft.
- While the rice is steaming, toast the black sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until they become fragrant.
- Grind the toasted sesame seeds in a food processor until they become a fine powder.
- In a large bowl, mix the ground sesame seeds, sugar, and salt together.
- Once the rice is done steaming, add it to the bowl with the sesame seed mixture and mix well.
- Add the coconut milk to the rice and mix until everything is well combined.
- Serve the Xoi Ma warm, with additional coconut milk on top if desired.
