Sticky Rice with Mango
A traditional Thai dessert made with glutinous rice, fresh mango and coconut milk.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
- Mangoes - 2, peeled and sliced
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Glutinous white rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the rice and steam in a steamer for 15-20 minutes until tender.
- While the rice is cooking, heat the coconut milk, sugar and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir well and let it sit for about 30 minutes to absorb the coconut milk.
- Serve the sticky rice with fresh mango slices and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
