Visitacion Valley Vada Pav
A popular street food from Mumbai, Vada Pav is a spicy potato filling sandwiched between buns and layers of spicy garlic and green chutney.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - For deep frying
- Garlic chutney - As required
- Green chutney - As required
- Pav buns - 4
- Salt - To taste
- Water - As required
- Gram flour - 1 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Green chillies - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 6 cloves, finely chopped
- Potatoes - 4 medium, boiled and mashed
Let's Get Started
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, chopped garlic and green chillies. Saute till the garlic turns golden.
- Add turmeric powder and mashed potatoes to the pan. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Let it cool.
- Make small balls from the potato mixture and keep aside.
- In a bowl, mix gram flour, salt and water to make a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
- Dip the potato balls in the gram flour batter and deep fry till golden brown.
- Slice the Pav buns from the middle, spread green chutney on one side and garlic chutney on the other.
- Place the fried potato ball in the middle of the bun. Serve hot.
