Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. Soak the dried shrimp in warm water for 15 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. Soak the bread in coconut milk until it's soft, then squeeze out the excess milk.
  3. In a large pot, heat the palm oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and red pepper and cook until the onions are soft.
  4. Add the soaked shrimp, soaked bread, ground peanuts, ground cashews, and salt to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  5. Cook the mixture over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly, until it becomes a thick paste.
  6. Serve the vatapá warm, with rice or farofa on the side.
