Vada Pav
Vada Pav is a popular street food from Mumbai, India. It consists of a spicy potato fritter (vada) served in a soft bread roll (pav).
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Tamarind chutney - For serving
- Green chutney - For serving
- Pav (bread rolls) - 4
- Oil - For deep frying
- Salt - To taste
- Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Green chilies - 2, finely chopped
- Potatoes - 4 medium, boiled and mashed
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, green chilies, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well.
- Divide the potato mixture into small balls and flatten them to form patties.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the potato patties into the oil and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
- Slit the pav (bread rolls) horizontally, without cutting all the way through.
- Spread green chutney on one side of the pav and tamarind chutney on the other side.
- Place a potato patty in the center of the pav and close it.
- Serve hot with additional chutneys on the side.
