Dahi Vada
Dahi Vada is a popular Indian snack made of lentil dumplings soaked in yogurt, topped with spices and tamarind chutney.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
- Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
- Roasted cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - To taste
- Yogurt - 2 cups
- Split black gram (urad dal) - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Soak the split black gram in water for 4-5 hours.
- Drain the water and grind the gram to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and drop spoonfuls of the paste into it. Fry until golden brown.
- Soak the fried dumplings in warm water for 2-3 minutes. Then, squeeze out the water and set them aside.
- Whisk the yogurt with salt, red chili powder, and roasted cumin powder.
- Place the dumplings in a serving dish and pour the yogurt mixture over them.
- Drizzle tamarind chutney on top and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Chill for an hour before serving.
