Udon Carbonara
A Japanese twist on the classic Italian carbonara, this udon carbonara is creamy, flavorful, and satisfying.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Green onions - 2, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Heavy cream - 1/4 cup
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Egg yolks - 2
- Bacon - 4 slices, chopped
- Udon noodles - 8 ounces
Let's Get Started
- Cook the udon noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and heavy cream.
- Heat the skillet with the bacon fat over low heat. Add the cooked udon noodles and toss to coat them in the bacon fat.
- Pour the egg yolk mixture over the noodles and quickly toss to coat the noodles evenly. The residual heat will cook the eggs and create a creamy sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Divide the udon carbonara into serving bowls and top with the crispy bacon and sliced green onions.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
