Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert made with layers of ladyfingers soaked in coffee and rum, and a creamy mascarpone filling.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons
- Heavy cream - 1 cup
- Mascarpone cheese - 8 ounces
- Granulated sugar - 1/2 cup
- Egg yolks - 4
- Rum - 2 tablespoons
- Strong brewed coffee - 1 cup
- Ladyfingers - 24
Let's Get Started
- In a shallow dish, combine the coffee and rum.
- Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, soaking them for a few seconds on each side.
- Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer in the bottom of a serving dish.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale yellow.
- Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and beat until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers in the serving dish.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder.
- Slice and serve chilled.
