Tiramisù
Tiramisù is a classic Italian dessert that combines espresso-dipped ladyfingers and a creamy mascarpone cream and is dusted with a cocoa powder to finish.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Cocoa powder - For dusting
- Ladyfingers - 24
- Espresso or strong coffee - 1 cup
- Heavy cream - 3/4 cup
- Mascarpone cheese - 8 ounces
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Egg yolks - 4
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, combine egg yolks and sugar. Beat until well combined and creamy.
- Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and beat until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone and egg yolk mixture.
- Dip each ladyfinger into the espresso or coffee and arrange in a single layer at the bottom of a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of espresso-dipped ladyfingers, followed by another layer of mascarpone cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or up to 8 hours) before serving.
- Before serving, dust the top of the dessert with cocoa powder.
