Ingredients - Serves 8
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
- Pie crust - 2, store-bought or homemade
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Ground cloves - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Chicken broth - 1 cup
- Potato - 1, peeled and diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 1 lb
- Ground pork - 1 lb
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, cook the ground pork and beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the diced potato, chicken broth, thyme, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until the potato is tender.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Line a pie dish with one of the pie crusts.
- Pour the meat mixture into the pie crust.
- Cover the filling with the second pie crust and seal the edges. Cut a few slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Allow the tourtière to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
