Torta Negra
Torta Negra is a traditional Colombian cake made with a variety of fruits and nuts, often served during Christmas and other special occasions.
Ingredients - Serves 12
- Walnuts - 1 cup, chopped
- Raisins - 1 cup
- Prunes - 1 cup, chopped
- Rum - 1/2 cup
- Ground cloves - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Cocoa powder - 1/2 cup
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Flour - 3 cups
- Eggs - 4
- Sugar - 2 cups
- Butter - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Mix in the rum, prunes, raisins, and walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
