Kadayif

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the kadayif in a large bowl and separate the strands with your fingers. Pour the melted butter over the kadayif and mix well to ensure all the strands are coated.
  3. Spread half of the buttered kadayif in the bottom of a baking dish. Press it down firmly with your hands.
  4. Mix the chopped walnuts and cinnamon together in a bowl. Spread this mixture over the kadayif in the baking dish.
  5. Cover the nuts with the remaining kadayif, pressing down firmly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  7. While the kadayif is baking, make the syrup. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the lemon juice and simmer for another 2 minutes.
  8. Remove the syrup from the heat and let it cool.
  9. As soon as the kadayif comes out of the oven, pour the cooled syrup over it. Let it sit for at least an hour to absorb the syrup before serving.
