Torta
Torta is a traditional Mexican sandwich made with a variety of fillings and served on a crusty bread roll.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cheese - 1/2 cup, shredded
- Jalapeno - 1, sliced
- Onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Lettuce - 4 leaves
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Avocado - 1, sliced
- Refried beans - 1/2 cup
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Crusty bread rolls - 2
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Slice the bread rolls in half lengthwise and spread mayonnaise on both sides.
- Spread refried beans on the bottom half of each roll.
- Layer avocado, tomato, lettuce, onion, jalapeno, cheese, and cilantro on top of the beans.
- Place the filled rolls on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
- Serve the tortas hot with lime wedges on the side.
