Tonkatsu Set
Tonkatsu is a popular Japanese dish that consists of a breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet served with shredded cabbage, rice, and miso soup.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Tonkatsu sauce - To serve
- Miso soup - 4 servings
- Steamed rice - 4 servings
- Cabbage - 1/2 head, shredded
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Pork loin cutlets - 4, about 1/2 inch thick
Let's Get Started
- Season the pork cutlets with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Dredge each cutlet in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip in the beaten egg, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 350°F.
- Fry the breaded cutlets until golden brown, about 5 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve the tonkatsu with shredded cabbage, steamed rice, and miso soup. Drizzle with tonkatsu sauce.
