Tonkatsu Sandwich
A delicious Japanese sandwich filled with crispy breaded pork cutlet, cabbage, and tangy sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Japanese white bread - 4 slices
- Tonkatsu sauce - 4 tablespoons
- Cabbage - 1 cup, shredded
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Egg - 1, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Pork loin cutlets - 2 pieces
Let's Get Started
- Season the pork cutlets with salt and black pepper.
- Dredge the cutlets in flour, dip them in beaten egg, and coat them with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the breaded pork cutlets until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the cutlets from the pan and drain them on a paper towel.
- Spread tonkatsu sauce on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place a fried pork cutlet on one slice of bread.
- Top with shredded cabbage.
- Cover with another slice of bread, sauce side down.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make another sandwich.
- Cut the sandwiches in half and serve.
