Tonkatsu
Tonkatsu is a Japanese dish which consists of a breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet. It's typically served with shredded cabbage and tonkatsu sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Shredded cabbage - For serving
- Tonkatsu sauce - For serving
- Vegetable oil - For deep frying
- Panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Pork loin chops - 4, about 1 inch thick
Let's Get Started
- Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Dredge each pork chop in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip in the beaten eggs, followed by the panko breadcrumbs, pressing firmly to adhere.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Fry the breaded pork chops until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes on each side.
- Drain on paper towels and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve with shredded cabbage and tonkatsu sauce.
