Tonkatsu
Tonkatsu is a popular Japanese dish made with breaded and deep-fried pork cutlets.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Tonkatsu sauce - For serving
- Cabbage - For serving
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Panko breadcrumbs - 2 cups
- Eggs - 2, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Pork loin chops - 4 pieces
Let's Get Started
- Season the pork chops with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Dredge the pork chops in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the pork chops into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Coat the pork chops with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the pork chops for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the tonkatsu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Slice the tonkatsu into thick slices.
- Serve the tonkatsu with shredded cabbage and tonkatsu sauce.
