Thai Basil and Beef Wraps
These Thai basil and beef wraps are a delicious and flavorful dish filled with tender beef, fresh herbs, and a tangy sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice noodles - 8 ounces, cooked
- Lettuce leaves - 8
- Carrots - 2, julienned
- Red bell pepper - 1, thinly sliced
- Thai basil leaves - 1 cup
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Beef sirloin - 1 pound, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and red chili flakes to make the sauce.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat.
- Add minced garlic and sliced beef to the skillet and cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add red bell pepper and julienned carrots. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add the cooked beef back to the skillet and pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything.
- Remove from heat and stir in Thai basil leaves.
- To assemble the wraps, place a lettuce leaf on a plate and add a spoonful of cooked rice noodles.
- Top with the beef and vegetable mixture.
- Roll up the lettuce leaf to form a wrap and secure with toothpicks if needed.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Serve the Thai basil and beef wraps with extra sauce on the side for dipping.
