Tempeh and Black Bean Burger

Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lettuce, tomato, and other desired burger toppings - As needed
- Burger buns - 4
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1/2, finely chopped
- Black beans - 1 cup, cooked
- Tempeh - 8 ounces
Let's Get Started
- Crumble the tempeh into a large bowl.
- Add the black beans to the bowl and mash them with the tempeh until well combined.
- Add the onion, garlic, soy sauce, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the bowl and mix well.
- Stir in the bread crumbs until the mixture holds together.
- Form the mixture into four patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties in the skillet for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and heated through.
