Tebasaki
Tebasaki are Nagoya-style Japanese chicken wings glazed with a sweet and garlicky sauce, then served with a side of cabbage and enjoyed with a cold beer.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cabbage - 1/2, shredded
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Mirin - 1/2 cup
- Soy sauce - 1/2 cup
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Chicken wings - 12
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper, then arrange on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- While the chicken is baking, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, garlic, and ginger in a saucepan.
- Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until thickened.
- Once the chicken is done, toss the wings in the sauce until well coated.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with shredded cabbage.
