Tareko Macha
Tareko Macha is a popular Nepali dish made with fried fish marinated in a flavorful spice blend.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
- Oil - For frying
- Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
- Fish fillets - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, mix ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and lemon juice to make a marinade.
- Add the fish fillets to the marinade and coat them well. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour and cornstarch.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Coat the marinated fish fillets with the flour-cornstarch mixture.
- Fry the fish fillets in hot oil until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot as an appetizer or with steamed rice as a main course.
