Tandoori Rotis
Tandoori rotis are traditional Indian flatbreads cooked in a clay oven called a tandoor. They are soft, fluffy, and have a smoky flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 3/4 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
- Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Heat a tawa or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Place a rolled roti on the hot tawa and cook for about 30 seconds, or until bubbles start to form.
- Flip the roti and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Remove the roti from the tawa and place it directly on the flame for a few seconds, using tongs, until it puffs up and gets charred spots.
- Brush the cooked roti with ghee and serve hot.
