Let's Get Started

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
  5. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium-high heat.
  6. Place a rolled roti on the hot tawa and cook for about 30 seconds, or until bubbles start to form.
  7. Flip the roti and cook for another 30 seconds.
  8. Remove the roti from the tawa and place it directly on the flame for a few seconds, using tongs, until it puffs up and gets charred spots.
  9. Brush the cooked roti with ghee and serve hot.
