Ingredients - Serves 4
- Ghee or oil - For cooking
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Potato - 2 medium, boiled and mashed
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 1 cup
- Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, water, and salt. Knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chili, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Take one ball and roll it into a small circle.
- Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of the circle. Bring the edges together and seal the filling inside the dough.
- Gently flatten the stuffed ball and roll it out into a paratha, about 6-7 inches in diameter.
- Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa and cook for a minute or until bubbles start to appear.
- Flip the paratha and spread some ghee or oil on top. Cook for another minute, then flip again and spread ghee or oil on the other side.
- Press the paratha with a spatula to ensure it cooks evenly. Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the tawa and repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
- Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.
