Let's Get Started

  1. Wash the basmati rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  2. Heat the ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook until they start to splutter.
  3. Add the drained rice to the pan and stir to coat the rice in the ghee and cumin seeds. Cook for a couple of minutes.
  4. Add the water and salt to the pan and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and all the water has been absorbed.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
