Jeera Rice
Jeera rice is a simple, flavorful Indian dish that goes well with a variety of curries. The cumin seeds add a unique aroma and taste to the rice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Ghee or oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 cups
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Wash the basmati rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- Heat the ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook until they start to splutter.
- Add the drained rice to the pan and stir to coat the rice in the ghee and cumin seeds. Cook for a couple of minutes.
- Add the water and salt to the pan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and all the water has been absorbed.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
