Ingredients - Serves 10

Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, then join the ends to form a ring. Dip each ring in water, then in the sesame seeds, making sure they are well coated.
  7. Place the rings on the prepared baking sheet and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
