Tteokbokki
Tteokbokki is a popular Korean street food made with soft and chewy rice cakes, fish cakes, and seasoned with a sweet and spicy gochujang sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish
- Water - 2 cups
- Green onions - 2, sliced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Gochujang (korean red chili paste) - 2 tablespoons
- Fish cakes - 1 cup, sliced
- Rice cakes - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Soak the rice cakes in warm water for 10 minutes, then drain.
- In a large pan, combine the water, gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and garlic. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the rice cakes and fish cakes to the pan. Stir to coat them in the sauce.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the rice cakes are soft and chewy.
- Add the sliced green onions and stir to combine.
- Serve the tteokbokki hot, garnished with sesame seeds.
