Steamed Mussels in White Wine
A classic French dish, these mussels are steamed in a delicious white wine and garlic sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Parsley - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- White wine - 1 cup
- Mussels - 2 pounds, cleaned and debearded
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the garlic and shallots, and cook until they are soft and fragrant.
- Add the white wine, and bring to a simmer.
- Add the mussels to the pot, and cover with a lid.
- Steam the mussels for about 10 minutes, or until they have all opened.
- Discard any mussels that have not opened.
- Season with salt and pepper, and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Serve the mussels hot, with the white wine sauce.
