These savory tempeh steaks are marinated in a sweet and salty soy glaze, then pan-fried to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons

Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
- Place the tempeh slices in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the tempeh slices and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and crispy.
- Drizzle the remaining marinade over the tempeh and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and the tempeh is well coated.
- Serve the tempeh steaks hot, with your favorite side dishes.
