Myeolchi Bokkeum
Myeolchi Bokkeum is a classic Korean side dish made from small dried anchovies. The anchovies are stir-fried until crispy, and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Rice syrup or honey - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Dried anchovies - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the dried anchovies and pat dry.
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the anchovies and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until crispy.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice syrup or honey, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the sauce over the anchovies and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, until the anchovies are well coated.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
