Soup Dumplings
These delicious soup dumplings, also known as xiao long bao, are a popular Chinese dish. They are filled with a flavorful broth and juicy pork.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Dumpling wrappers - 24
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken broth - 1 cup
- Gelatin - 1 tablespoon
- Pork - 1/2 pound, ground
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the chicken broth and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Heat the broth in the microwave until the gelatin is dissolved, then refrigerate until set, about 1 hour.
- In a large bowl, combine the pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, and ginger.
- Cut the gelatinized broth into small cubes and mix into the pork.
- Place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper.
- Fold the edges of the wrapper over the filling and pinch to seal.
- Place the dumplings in a steamer basket and steam over boiling water for 10 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through.
