Sotteok Sotteok
Sotteok Sotteok is a popular Korean street food that combines sweet and chewy rice cakes with savory sausage, all skewered and brushed with a sweet and spicy sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ketchup - 1 tablespoon
- Korean red pepper paste (gochujang) - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Skewers - 8
- Sausages - 4, cut into pieces
- Korean rice cakes - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Soak the rice cakes in warm water for 10 minutes, then drain.
- Thread the rice cakes and sausage pieces onto the skewers, alternating between the two.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sugar, gochujang, ketchup, and minced garlic to make the sauce.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the skewers, turning occasionally, until the sausages are cooked through and the rice cakes are soft and slightly crispy, about 10 minutes.
- Brush the skewers with the sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized.
- Serve the skewers hot, with extra sauce on the side for dipping.
