Beondegi
Beondegi is a traditional Korean street food made from silkworm pupae. It has a unique, nutty flavor and is considered a high-protein snack.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Canned silkworm pupae - 1 can
Let's Get Started
- Drain the canned silkworm pupae and rinse under cold water.
- In a pan, combine the soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add the silkworm pupae to the pan and stir to coat in the sauce. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with the chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
