Sosaties
Sosaties is a traditional South African dish of meat (usually lamb or mutton) cooked on skewers. The term comes from sate (skewered meat) and saus (spicy sauce).
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bay leaves - 4
- Vinegar - 1/4 cup
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Curry powder - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Red bell peppers - 2, cut into chunks
- Onions - 2, cut into quarters
- Lamb - 1 kg, cubed
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the garlic, curry powder, brown sugar, vinegar, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
- Add the lamb cubes to the marinade and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Preheat the grill to medium heat.
- Thread the lamb, onions, and bell peppers onto skewers.
- Grill the sosaties for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Serve the sosaties hot, with a side of rice or salad.
