Shrimp Masala
This flavorful shrimp masala is made with a blend of spices, tomatoes, and coconut milk.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Shrimp - 1 lb, peeled and deveined
Let's Get Started
- Heat the cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the turmeric, cumin, coriander, and garam masala. Stir well to coat the onions and spices.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a simmer.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Stir in the chopped cilantro and lemon juice.
- Serve the shrimp masala over steamed rice or with naan bread.
