Shahi Tukda
Shahi Tukda is a rich and indulgent Indian dessert made with fried bread slices soaked in saffron-infused milk and garnished with nuts and silver leaf.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Silver leaf (optional) - For garnish
- Almonds - 2 tablespoons, sliced
- Pistachios - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Saffron strands - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Milk - 2 cups
- Ghee - 4 tablespoons
- Bread slices - 4
Let's Get Started
- Heat ghee in a pan and fry the bread slices until golden brown on both sides.
- In a separate pan, heat milk and add saffron strands. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder to the milk and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Dip the fried bread slices in the saffron-infused milk and let them soak for a few minutes.
- Transfer the soaked bread slices to a serving plate.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios, sliced almonds, and silver leaf (if using).
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
