Sekerpare
Sekerpare is a popular Turkish dessert made with semolina and soaked in a sweet syrup.
Ingredients - Serves 10
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 cups
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Flour - 2 cups
- Semolina - 1 cup
- Egg - 1
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1/2 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
- Beat in the egg, then stir in the semolina, flour, baking powder, and vanilla extract.
- Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the cookies are baking, make the syrup by combining the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice.
- Pour the hot syrup over the baked cookies. Let them soak for at least 1 hour before serving.
