Fistikli Sarma

Ingredients - Serves 10
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Pistachios - 2 cups, finely chopped
- Unsalted butter - 1 cup, melted
- Phyllo dough - 1 package
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush a baking pan with some of the melted butter.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the pan and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this process until you have layered half the phyllo sheets.
- Spread the chopped pistachios evenly over the phyllo dough.
- Layer the remaining phyllo sheets on top of the pistachios, brushing each one with melted butter.
- Cut the layered dough into squares or diamonds and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the sarma is baking, make the syrup by combining the sugar, water, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Pour the hot syrup over the baked sarma. Let it cool before serving.
