Seared Ahi Tuna with Sesame
This is a simple, elegant recipe for seared ahi tuna coated with sesame seeds. The tuna is served rare, so be sure to use a good quality fresh tuna.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Freshly ground black pepper - To taste
- Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Black sesame seeds - 1/2 cup
- White sesame seeds - 1/2 cup
- Ahi tuna steaks - 4 (6 ounce)
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the tuna steaks and pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix the white and black sesame seeds and spread out on a plate.
- Coat the tuna steaks with the soy sauce and sesame oil, then press into the sesame seeds to coat.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat. When hot, add the tuna steaks and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Remove from heat and slice into 1/2 inch thick slices. Serve immediately.
