Saucijzenbroodje
Saucijzenbroodje is a popular snack in the Netherlands. It's a puff pastry roll filled with a delicious sausage meat mixture.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Pork sausage - 500 grams
- Puff pastry - 1 package
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix together the pork sausage, onion, garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 8 equal squares.
- Divide the sausage mixture into 8 parts and shape each part into a cylinder. Place each cylinder on a square of puff pastry.
- Fold the pastry over the sausage, pressing the edges together to seal. Repeat with the remaining pastry and sausage.
- Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet and brush them with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the sausage is cooked through.
