Samosas
Crispy and spicy Indian snack, Samosas are a popular street food in India filled with a potato mixture and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - For deep frying
- Water - As required
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Green chillies - 2, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 inch, finely chopped
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Peas - 1/2 cup, boiled
- Potatoes - 2 large, boiled and peeled
Let's Get Started
- Mash the boiled potatoes and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, ginger, green chillies and saute for a minute.
- Add the mashed potatoes and peas to the pan. Add coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes. Let it cool.
- In a bowl, take the all-purpose flour, add water gradually and knead it into a firm dough.
- Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a small round of 4 inch diameter.
- Cut each round into two halves. Take one half, fold it into a cone. Place a spoon of the filling in the cone.
- Seal the edges with a little water.
- Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the samosas on low to medium heat until golden brown.
- Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
