Samgyeopsal
Samgyeopsal is a popular Korean dish made with grilled pork belly slices served with various side dishes.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Rice - 4 cups, cooked
- Ssamjang (korean dipping sauce) - 1/2 cup
- Kimchi - 1 cup
- Lettuce leaves - 8-10 leaves
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Pork belly - 1.5 pounds, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper to make the marinade.
- Add the sliced pork belly to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
- Heat a grill or a non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the marinated pork belly slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Remove the grilled pork belly from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the samgyeopsal with lettuce leaves, kimchi, ssamjang, and cooked rice.
- To eat, take a lettuce leaf, add a slice of grilled pork belly, a spoonful of ssamjang, and any desired side dishes. Wrap it up and enjoy!
