Dwaeji Gukbap
Dwaeji Gukbap is a popular Korean soup dish made from pork and rice. It's hearty, comforting, and perfect for cold weather.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Water - 10 cups
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Green onions - 4, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 10 cloves, minced
- Rice - 2 cups
- Pork belly - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the pork belly and place it in a large pot with the water. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer, skimming off any foam that forms.
- Add the garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the pot. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours, or until the pork is very tender.
- Remove the pork from the pot and let it cool. Once cool, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
- Return the shredded pork to the pot and add the rice. Simmer for another 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked.
- Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped green onions just before serving.
