Rössypottu
Rössypottu is a traditional Finnish dish made with beef, potatoes, and root vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaves - 2
- Beef broth - 4 cups
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, chopped
- Turnips - 2 medium, peeled and diced
- Carrots - 2 large, peeled and diced
- Potatoes - 4 large, peeled and diced
- Beef - 500 grams, cubed
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.
- Add the diced potatoes, carrots, turnips, beef broth, bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef and vegetables are tender.
- Remove the bay leaves and discard.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
