Reindeer Meat
A hearty and flavorful stew made with tender reindeer meat, vegetables, and aromatic spices.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Flour - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaves - 2
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Red wine - 1 cup
- Beef broth - 4 cups
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Celery - 2 stalks, chopped
- Potatoes - 4 medium, diced
- Carrots - 2 medium, sliced
- Onion - 1 large, chopped
- Reindeer meat - 2 pounds, cubed
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the reindeer meat and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir well to coat.
- Add the browned reindeer meat back to the pot.
- Pour in the beef broth and red wine. Stir in the tomato paste, bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Add the diced potatoes to the stew and continue to simmer for an additional 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are cooked through.
- Remove the bay leaves before serving.
- Serve the reindeer meat stew hot and enjoy!
