Rasgulla
Rasgulla is a popular Indian sweet made of milk and sugar, often found in festivals and family celebrations.
Ingredients - Serves 10
- Rose water - 1 teaspoon
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 4 cups
- Sugar - 2 cups
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Milk - 1 litre
Let's Get Started
- Boil the milk in a heavy bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Add the lemon juice to the milk and stir until the milk curdles.
- Drain the curdled milk and wash it under cold water to remove the lemon flavor. Squeeze out the excess water.
- Knead the milk solids into a smooth dough and divide into small balls.
- In a large pot, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil.
- Add the milk balls to the sugar syrup and cook for 15-20 minutes.
- Add the cardamom powder and rose water and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the rasgullas cool in the syrup before serving.
