Punjene Paprike
Punjene paprike, also known as stuffed peppers, are a delicious traditional Serbian dish. The peppers are filled with a flavorful mixture of ground meat, rice, and spices, then baked to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Rice - 1/2 cup, cooked
- Ground beef - 500 grams
- Bell peppers - 4 large
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut off the tops of the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the meat mixture, packing it tightly.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and pour the tomato sauce over them.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the meat is cooked through.
- Serve the punjene paprike hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
