  1. In a large bowl, soak the okra in buttermilk for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F.
  4. Drain the okra and dredge in the cornmeal mixture, shaking off the excess.
  5. Fry the okra in batches until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  6. To make the remoulade, combine the mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, hot sauce, garlic, and paprika in a small bowl.
  7. Serve the fried okra with the remoulade on the side.
