Poutine with Braised Beef

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Season the beef with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 3-4 hours, or until the beef is tender.
  3. While the beef is cooking, prepare the fries. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F. Add the potatoes and cook until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
  4. When the beef is ready, shred it with two forks. Keep the cooking liquid to use as gravy.
  5. To assemble the poutine, place a layer of fries in a dish. Top with a layer of cheese curds, then a layer of shredded beef. Pour the gravy over the top. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
  6. Serve the poutine hot, with extra gravy on the side.
